Like any textile, residential and commercial carpets require proper care to maintain their original beauty and extend their lifespan. To keep your carpets looking their best, follow these three simple steps:
Vacuum regularly to remove dirt and prevent fiber damage.
Clean spills immediately to avoid permanent stains.
Schedule professional carpet cleaning at least once a year.
What to Do When a Spill Happens
Blot the spill right away. Use a clean towel to absorb as much of the spill as possible.
Gently press, don’t scrub. Press a clean cloth into the area to lift moisture. Avoid scrubbing, as it can damage the carpet fibers and set the stain.
Add warm water and blot. Continue blotting until no more color transfers to the cloth.
Use a mild detergent solution if needed. Mix ¼ teaspoon of dishwashing liquid with 1 cup of warm water. Apply the solution to the stained area and let it sit for about 5 minutes.
Rinse thoroughly. Blot with clean warm water to remove the detergent. Repeat if needed until all residue is gone.
Dry the area. Place paper towels over the spot to absorb remaining moisture. Weigh them down and let them sit overnight.
Vacuum once dry. This helps restore the carpet’s natural texture.
If the stain remains, repeat steps 3 through 7 until it is fully removed.
